Sunday, April 12 | 1:00 - 4:00 PM | RHCC

This is an opportunity for the whole family to see an amazing selection of films from around the world. Add workshops that show you how to make your own animation using some wacky props, and paper cut-outs, and you’ve got a truly irresistible afternoon filled with activities.

Special price of $5 per person for the entire afternoon.

1:00 PM - Indigenous Spotlight

This short film program invites young audiences to explore the joys and challenges of native experience in our world today. Join us on a poetic and spiritual journey that will spotlight the relationship between land and water, small miracles, dogs, and a polar bear.

1:30 PM - Doc Day

Adventure awaits in Africa, Australia, India and North America! Pop ollies on skateboards, learn how to drive, bust gender stereotypes, prepare for the Olympics, and feel the importance of unconditional love. This is real life at its best!

2:30 PM - Not On My Own

Pushing through a difficult situation or challenge is sometimes made easier through a bit of teamwork. Friends are often the ones who can help achieve a goal, but they can also help change an attitude or outlook on life. The protagonists in these films discover that sometimes all you need is a little help from your friends.

3:30 PM - Animation Investigation

Partners and opposites attract to form unlikely connections in wonderous worlds and dazzling journeys. Sometimes experimental, sometimes straightforward, this collection of animation boasts a bevy of fun and adventure.

Note: On SUNDAY FUN DAY!, both the Orphan and the Polar Bear and Traditional Healing will play in the Indigenous Spotlight program, starting at 1:00 PM, instead of the Animation Investigation program.

Come for a day full of creative expression and hands-on activities. These animation workshops offer children and families the opportunity to spark a new shared interest, hone the ability to tell a simple story, and even learn to fly. All workshops are available with the purchase of a special day pass for $5, and are on a first-come first-serve basis. Please sign up upon arrival.

Get animated! Choreographed by the instructor, you will glide, disappear and fly through the air. This is a great introduction to special effects and stop-motion animation.

objects in motion

Using everyday office and school supplies, kids and parents will animate objects in new, interesting and imaginative ways.

cut-out animation

A variety of pre-fashioned and cut-out materials will be used to create characters and sets. In small groups, using video capture techniques, attendees will be taken through the steps of creating a short animation.
